Verkhovna Rada Adopted Laws Necessary for Visa Liberalization with the EU

The Ukrainian Parliament passed a law to prevent and fight discrimination in Ukraine .

According to an UNIAN correspondent, 236 voted for the bill of 336 lawmakers registered in the session hall.

This law is draft to take account of international standards and guidelines for the protection of the rights and freedoms of people and citizens, and comments to the Law of Ukraine " On Prevention and Fighting Discrimination in Ukraine" made ​​by international experts to expand the list of attributes, for which discrimination is prohibited. This law prohibits gender discrimination. The law provides opportunity to appeal against decisions, actions or inaction on discrimination.

The Parliament also adopted the Law “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine in the Sphere of State Anti-Corruption Policy in Connection with the Action Plan for the Liberalization of the EU Visa Regime for Ukraine.” For this decision voted 289 of 348 deputies.

The Law of Ukraine "On Amending the Law of Ukraine “On Refugees and Persons who need additional or temporary protection "(№ 4580 ) was adopted with 277 votes out of 350 MPs registered in the hall.

In addition , 272 deputies voted for the amendments to the laws relating to the activities of the Ombudsman in the sphere of the protection of personal data.
